Shivani is an aspiring researcher in the field of Disaster Management and Disaster Studies. She has completed her Master’s in Disaster Management and has done her Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science. She worked with the India Meteorological Department, where her thesis focused on vulnerability mapping of Hydro Meteorological Hazards over India. She was also a Disaster Governance and Risk Reduction Fellow and Program Co-ordinator at Sphere India for disaster preparedness and response at national level. Her work at Sphere India involved, carrying out post disaster need assessments for flood and cyclone events and managing the Inter Agency Co-ordination in India.Some of the projects she’s worked on include the Hyderabad floods(2020), cyclone Nivar, cyclone Burevi and the Uttarakhand floods that took place in 2021. Apart from this, she also looks after team operations of UPAY , an NGO working towards providing quality education to underprivileged children in India and has been associated with it since the past 4 years.
